NINE INCH NAILS

Stories

"It was actually my very first time seeing them! I’ve been a massive fan since I was a teenager they’re basically my go-to 'writing fuel' since I write for a living but I didn't finally catch them live until this past August. I hit the Chicago show at the United Center for the Peel It Back 2025 leg, and 'blown away' doesn't even cover it.

The energy was just electric. They did the B-stage remix of Closer that felt like hearing the song for the first time all over again. Since that was the very first NIN song I ever heard, hearing it live in such a fresh, raw way was a total full-circle emotional moment for me. It’s one of those songs that has been there through everything, you know?

I did manage to snag a As alive as you need me to be lyric tee! I was hunting for the Closer one, but it sold out so fast honestly, I’m just so grateful I walked away with a piece of the night. It was one of those shows that stays with you."

"I started off this tour seeing NIN 5 times and ended at 14. At my first show (Chicago) I was able to meet a few friends from Discordance in real life at Chicago Night 1 as well as attend see NIN for the first time on the main stage rail. From there on, every show had a unique trait that made it special for me. Chicago Night 2's setlist, as well as being in the stands next to a Father & Son seeing NIN both for their first time was great. Detroit I was able to take two of my best friends to see NIN for the first time. Cleveland was a huge Discordance meetup, it was my favorite of the first leg of the tour. Nashville was a last minute decision that ended up being a blast with more Discordance friends.

By the 2026 leg of the tour, Grand Rapids involved having a friend from across the country fly in to see the show, followed by driving over to Milwaukee to meet more friends IRL for the first time. Austin was my first trip to Texas and was a lot of fun, Vegas felt like Cleveland in regard to Discordance meetups but also had a bittersweet, but fulfilling feeling at the end once Hurt wrapped up.

This tour changed my life and was a huge positive impact on me, I won't forget it. Writing this made me realize I didn't really get into the actual band as much as the community around it. With that said, this was easily the coolest and most unique arena tour I have witnessed as well."

"Chicago was my first NIN show, having loved them for over a decade (late to the game, tbh). It changed something in me. It was raw emotion. Immediately after getting home, I booked tickets for a 24h trip to Cleveland for the next feasible show. Then again, when they announced a continuation of the tour, to NOLA, and finally Milwaukee. I stood next to a man all Cleveland show, who drove from NY, and he shared stories of attending one concert per tour since late 90s/early 00s, his experiences as they related to the arc of NIN’s emotional journey, and NIN lore that only a capital F Fan could describe (including how his hope was they would play this unreleased song Trent played live once called Non-Entity, even though 'of course they won’t'). At NOLA, when Trent played Non-Entity on the B stage, this song I wouldn’t have known any other way, I thought of him and hoped he got to see this live for himself. NIN is special to so many of us - I’m grateful to have shared the pit with so many people who have been changed by them. Can’t wait for more."

"This was my second and third time seeing nine inch nails, my first time seeing them was in 2009 on the wave goodbye tour(the Indianapolis stop). My grandfather who was like my father and helped raise me as my mom had me at 14 and I don’t know my dad and my step dad was greatly abusive, my grandfather passed away in 2008, 5 months after I graduated high school. He was like invincible to me I thought I’d die before he would, I became addicted to drugs I did anything I could get my hands on.

At the wave goodbye tour when he played hurt I was in the lawn and it immediately started to pour down rain. I fell to the ground and began crying and that’s when I decided to get sober. It was like something out of a movie it was so crazy. Such a spiritual experience. If it wasn’t for that show in 2009 I would be dead 100%, and my daughter and son would not be here. Trent’s music has saved my life and has been my only friend in my darkest times and has been by my side in the best of times.

I have been a nine inch nails fan since I was a teenager. I am 36 now I found nine inch nails in 2004 if I remember correctly I was 14. The show in 2009 was a miracle. I had won tickets on the radio a few months before for a three doors down show that was at a casino and I drove all the way there with my cousin and they wouldn’t let me in because I wasn’t 21. So I called the radio station back and told them what had happened and then they gave me two tickets to the nine inch nails show. So I got to go to that show for free which was amazing.

When my children were born I was so busy being a mom and I was in college that I couldn’t keep up with nine inch nails news. Every tour they had I would find out about a show the week of and then not have money to go. When the peel is back tour was announced it was a few days before my birthday (February 3) and I dug into my savings to get tickets. The first day the tickets sold out before I could even get a chance to get one. Then I saw on instagram they were having a second day. Thank god for that. I managed to get tickets to night 2 from Ticketmaster. And night 1 I had to use seat geek. I spent a hefty $1300 on tickets to both shows but it was well worth it. I would pay anything to see nine inch nails because the shows are the most amazing shows that anyone can ever put on. There is no one more amazing then nine inch nails to see live. Hands down.

Night one I took my husband. He likes nine inch nails. But he’s not like the world’s biggest fan like I am. Nin is my favorite band of all time. At the end of night one he said that was the best concert he had ever been to and we have been to a lot. We were in the pit night one right on the gate at the front of the main stage. When they were on b side I couldn’t see because I’m so short but I still rocked out. When they were on the main stage i had a clear view. What a phenomenal show.

Night 2 I took my daughter. She was 12 at the time. And it was her first concert ever. We had seats because I didn’t think she could handle the pit and when the concert came she was fighting a cold so I’m glad we had seats. To see her singing the words to my favorite band it made my heart feel so full I was bawling my eyes out. She had such a fun time she did not want to leave. Nor did I. We waited a hour and a half after the show to try to catch Trent just so I could tell him thank you for saving my life. But we didn’t have any luck.

This tour was amazing and I hope and pray we get a live dvd we haven’t had one in a very long time. And it is much needed and that Coachella set was everything!!

I think probably the first nin song I ever heard was the hand that feeds because it was out at the time. And I immediately loved it. But once I heard closer omg just blown away. The downward spiral and year zero are my favorites but I love every nin album. Everything Trent does I buy and support and love. Like the soul soundtrack and that movie just phenomenal.

Some of my favorite songs that he played at the Chicago shows were she’s gone away, a minute to breathe with the zero sum mixed in, find my way, the closer remix is a banger, and boyz noize played some of the tron music during his set but we had no idea because it wasn’t out. He for sure played infiltrator night 2 because I was rocking out to it and tried to Shazam it and nothing came up. It was also amazing the visuals during reptile.

Every hard time in my life, my drug addiction, the loss of my grandfather, loss of my aunt (who was like a second mom), loss of pets Trent’s music has been by my side.

I was really hoping for something night one since we were on the gate. Literally the guy next to me got a guitar pick I immediately had my heart broken like I have nin tattoo on my wrist can I please have something and people in the middle got set lists I was really bummed.

I spent a pretty penny at the merch table, I got a hoodie, two t shirts and the air tag holder. That air tag holder is everything I should have for 2 since they were only $15 but my money was tight at the time. I lost my job of 4 years in February and didn’t find work until July and the shows were in August so all my bills were behind. So I couldn’t get everything that I wanted to. And the posters were not at the Chicago shows but I managed to get 2 off of the website. My daughter also got a t shirt night 2. So we spent a lot of money. But well with it. It sucks the hoodies are $90 and the shirts were $45. In 2009 my concert shirt from the wave goodbye tour was $25 and i remember thinking that was a lot. I would kill for those prices again.

Every time nin has a tour from now on if there’s a Chicago or Indiana date I’m going. Trent is getting older and is a dad of six so I’m not sure how many more tours we will get and only seeing them three times isn’t enough for me. Being able to experience this tour with my husband was amazing. And to have the experience with my daughter and her being the first concert she’s ever been to it’s a memory I’ll cherish forever. People in our area night 2 when I had my daughter were so nice and thought it was so cool that her first concert is nine inch nails. She even missed school to go as Chicago is a 3 hour drive for us and we wanted to avoid rush hour traffic so we left at like 11 am. I’m sorry this is so long. But if it wasn’t for Trent I 1000% wouldn’t be here. He has saved my life and made my life so much better. His music inspired me to get sober it’ll be 2 decades soon before too long that I’ve been sober. And me getting my life together brought my children in my life which are my life’s greatest gift.

Fun fact one time in instagram during the pandemic I posted a photo of me in a nin shirt on instagram and it was thanking nin for helping me to get sober and Trent liked it! Like I will get that post framed. It was a great life achievement.

Thank you for reopening this and allowing us to share our stories. I cannot wait to read others. If anyone wants to add me on instagram my handle is monaaa1031. I love making nin friends!"
