Stories

"This was my very first NIИ show. I just really started getting into their music last summer. I fell in love with their music after I found a copy of PHM at a record store for $2 and picked it up just because I thought the cover was cool. I took it home, listened to it, and was absolutely blown away. My favorite song that I heard on the tour was either the remix of Closer, or The Perfect Drug (Josh's drum solo blew my mind!!!). Over the last couple of months I've had some pretty bad struggles on-and-off with my mental health, and NIИ's music has truly been a huge part of helping me get through this. Seeing them live truly healed a part of me."

"I first heard Terrible Lie when I was 8 years old and the outtro was the coolest most different sound I had ever heard in music. It sounded like something from another planet to me. I didn't start listening to NIN on a regular basis until the lead up to With Teeth. My first show was Coachella 2005 and the three northern California Peel It Back shows were #18, #19, and #20. The production was incredible innovative and fresh."

"This tour was the first time I had the chance to see NIN after being a fan for twenty years (my older sibling introduced me to them when I was a kid, after With Teeth came out). I ended up being able to go to 14 shows with my best friend. The first leg I drove us up to Cleveland and saw the show for the first time in my home state and then we took a proper road trip in my car all the way down to Nashville, took the scenic route and stopped at the old house in New Orleans on our way to the shows in Houston and Fort Worth. We took polaroids the whole time on the road. I actually met my best friend during an inpatient hospital stay at the end of 2024 and I introduced her to NIN. I was going to take my life after I had gotten raped earlier that year and NIN is what got me through it. This tour restored my hope for life and made me feel at home in my body and this world again. The second leg we started close to home again in Columbus and I got to see one of my favorite songs live (the Wretched). We ended up going back to Texas again and saw so many familiar faces but we made new friends all over the country. In Sacramento, I had the most blessed opportunity to meet Trent and it was the best day of my life. I also got to see She's Gone Away which was amazing because Laura Palmer means the world to me as a survivor. I'll never forget this tour for as long as I live."

"I had the time of my life. I finally got to follow the band around for the bulk of the tour. We got a setlist that we gave to a friend because it was his birthday, I got a hug from Robin at my 50th show, scored a mystery tee in DC, and went out with a bang in San Francisco. I don't think I'll ever see this band live again since my body is breaking down at an alarming rate, but I'll be forever grateful for every single show I've seen. The only thing missing was Deep followed immediately by Even Deeper."

"These were not my first shows, but my first shows with my kid. He traveled for the first time to the California shows on leg 2. It was in celebration of him getting accepted to college and becoming an adult. I've made new friends, met up with old ones, and told my crazy life stories in line (which is one of my favorite parts, because watching others laugh with how absurd things are for me? it's kind of cathartic!) I've been a NIN fan since 2003ish, and I fell in love during the Year Zero ARG. That album led me to becoming a bit of an activist, and fundamentally changed who I was as a person. Hearing (You Made It Feel Like) Home was amazing (because it's extremely rare when I don't know lyrics!), but also devastating with the bit of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence due to a personal history with that song - it was the song playing when I found my cat Nero had a tumor on his jaw that would factor in his passing just 2 months later. NIN is the reason why I have some of the best friends in the world, and have had some of the most amazing experiences. While I didn't get anything particularly special, I did make some small 'end of tour' gifts for the band for the 2nd Forum and Sacramento shows. I'm grateful for the music, the people, the times, the places. I can't wait for more."

"This tour was really truly something special in ways that are difficult to articulate but here goes... I went to three stops: LA (night 2), SF and Sacramento. Previously, I saw them during the Cold and Black and Infinite Tour in 2018. That was my first time seeing them. They're the only band I've seen multiple times!

I'm a 42 yr old single mom. I have a beautiful 10 yr old little girl. I've been listening to NIИ since I was around 14 years old. I am a 90's millenial child where MTV was still popular and relevant. My first exposure was possibly earlier in life I'm sure during something like a Beavis and Butthead episode! I had a very close friend in high school, we called him Fuzzy. We used to sit in his room after school and just jam out to TDS and PHM. We were so in love with the music. From there, my love grew deeper.

Nine Inch Nails has carried me and seen me through early teenagehood, young adulthood, becoming a nurse, motherhood, divorce, escaping abuse, and then falling in love and now through heartbreak in midlife. The way I relate to their music has of course evolved as I've aged myself and throughout all my lived experiences - most importantly, their music has helped me sit with some very serious, deep, and isolating emotional pain. Their music helps me feel all of the depth of grief, every dark corner gets rooted out, I'm able to feel the highest highs and the lowest lows and all the spectrum of emotion in between.

I meant to take my now ex bf to the LA show but we were on shaky ground so I decided to go solo. I was extremely nervous, I was having some gnarly panic attacks for a solid couple of months before the show. I had also recently been diagnosed with an unruptured brain aneurysm a month prior. I've become very claustrophobic as I get older. The show day came and it was one of the most unforgettable moments of my life. I got floor tickets pretty close to the B-stage. I had been following the tour and listening to recordings on YouTube videos. Hearing those songs live that I had been listening to on YouTube... something so amazing to hear it live! I was praying we would get the Closer remix and we did! I was seeing god during that song! I stopped dropping acid in high school and it gave me a full on frisson synesthesia experience. I danced my little heart out, I lost my voice. I sobbed during Hurt. I swear I was floating around everywhere for weeks after the show.

Then they announced a second leg! And they're ending in SACRAMENTO... 'holy shit!' I thought. I knew I had to go. Then the infamous rumors of them not touring anymore started to catch like wildfire. My kid is 10 but I said, 'You know what? Screw it, I'm taking her!' To my surprise, she really wanted to go but pit tickets were already sold out for Sacramento. I knew tickets were still pretty reasonable for SF. I snagged a couple a few days before the show and we had such a magical time together making core memories. It's very special to share something that means so much to you and it mean just as much to your kid! The future of NIИ is in good hands!

My favorite song? That Closer remix. Hands down. Honorable mentions were Something I Can Never Have with the Stripped outro, The Frail and Find My Way. My favorite was the B-stage. I'm a big fan of EDM and these remixes just make my heart soar. I was hoping for some main stage songs that Europe got like The Lovers and Somewhat Damaged (again, mainstage). Also following all of the news during the tour; Josh Freese in after Ilan departing and Stu coming in after Alessandro's departure.

One of my favorite memories was Trent scolding us like a grumpy dad saying 'what I said was' in regards to the rumors that this was potentially the last tour. I am glad I picked up a lyric tee in SF because they were all sold out and didn't have any left for the Sacramento show! I got my daughter the hoodie with the writing on the hood and the tour dates on the sleeve. I didn't make new friends in person but I definitely found a lot of new online friends to obsess over NIИ with! I cannot wait to see what else is in store for this band, Nine Inch Noize project and that new music Trent mentioned!"
